about

Most of 2017 was a "dry" year for me in terms of recording new songs, with the bulk of my musical efforts directed toward writing lyrics for Jessalynn and completing our 3rd Fractal Love Jam album ("Particles & Waves"), with the majority of those songs originally composed in 2016. However, late in the summer, before going back to teaching, I had two weeks to sit down with few interruptions or competing obligations, and was able to crank out 11 new tracks, the result of which is this new album. Prior to sitting down and making these recordings, I had no particular plans or ideas for new songs, and each one ended up being a surprise. The songs are presented here in the order they were recorded. As is usual for any collection of songs I record, these vary considerably in terms of overall sound, genre, style, and vibe. I like the way they all go together, especially when listened to in this order. Some of the tracks are more electronic, others chorale and symphonic. There are elements of alternative rock, world fusion, dub, EDM, and even a little west-African blues. I hope you enjoy this latest collection of instrumental music, and if you're able, "enhanced" listening is always recommended ;) - Martin

Oh, and if you're wondering, yes, the title comes from the recent total solar eclipse that I got to see and photograph in August, and the cover art comes from one of my photos with a fractal flame background
